An anxiety-ridden screenwriter takes centre stage in Kill Me Now, a Hollywood satire that has premiered at the Oldenburg Film Festival.

The film is directed by Michael Polish and written by Jacqueline Singer, who also stars as Victoria, according to The Hollywood Reporter. To write and star means Singer created the screenplay and also performs the central role. A Hollywood satire is a story that pokes fun at the film business itself.

The film runs for 1 hour 49 minutes, just short of two hours. It is a 2026 production from the USA, programmed in the 33rd International Film Festival Oldenburg, according to Filmfest Oldenburg. A world premiere is the first public screening of a film. The festival had earmarked Kill Me Now as a world premiere when it announced its first selections in August, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Singer leads a large ensemble cast. The credits list Jacqueline Singer with Mena Suvari, Balthazar Getty, Mario Van Peebles, Keith Carradine, Mira Sorvino, Judd Nelson, Colleen Camp and Duke Nicholson. Four of them appear in cameos, a trade term for short appearances, often by well-known actors. They are Suvari, Getty, Nelson and Sorvino.

In the story, Sorvino plays Victoria's studio boss. That is the executive in charge above her at work. The part is played as a cameo. Nelson plays her shrink, an informal word for a therapist or psychiatrist. Suvari plays her on-and-off best friend.

Elsewhere in the cast, Getty plays an L.A. cop, a police officer in Los Angeles. Van Peebles plays her uncle, a dentist. Nicholson plays the strange man who stares at Victoria from the house across the street. Nicholson is the grandson of Jack Nicholson.

For viewers, this means a lot of familiar faces around one central character. The boss, the therapist, the friend, the uncle and the neighbour each give Victoria someone to react to. The festival listing puts that ensemble inside its 33rd edition programme, with Singer present in two key jobs, as writer and lead actor.
