Florence Pugh says she was never scared to speak publicly in support of Palestine, even though she believes it cost her hundreds of thousands of social media followers over the last few years.

The actor made the comments to Vanity Fair in a cover story published on 25 September 2026, as reported by Variety. She said the loss of followers followed her outspoken posts and shared links in support of Palestinian humanitarian causes.

Pugh said she was confused that so many people were not speaking up, and that silence made her feel more sure about talking. No one on her team advised her to keep quiet, she told the magazine.

She went anyway. Pugh attended the Together for Palestine fundraising event in London despite a clash with production on Avengers: Doomsday, the forthcoming Avengers film. At that event she said silence in the face of such suffering is not neutrality but complicity, according to Variety.

That London fundraiser raised more than $2 million for humanitarian organisations, Variety reported. Pugh has periodically shared donation links for aid to Palestinians alongside links for other humanitarian organisations and causes, as noted in the original Vanity Fair interview.

What makes this stand out for fans is the direct link she draws between speaking out and losing audience. In an industry where publicists often urge caution, she describes no such warning and no regret about the follower count.
