FilmNation Chief Glen Basner Takes Zurich Honour and Plots Bigger 2027 Slate

FilmNation chief executive Glen Basner accepted the Game Changer Award at the Zurich Summit and used the moment to outline a larger production slate for 2027, according to Variety. Conclave director Edward Berger paid tribute to Basner during the presentation. The two previously worked together on Conclave.
Basner is the founder as well as chief executive of FilmNation, the production and sales company behind the two Zurich titles in focus this year. The Summit, the industry meeting held alongside the Zurich Film Festival, runs from 25 to 27 September 2026 in Switzerland, according to the Zurich Film Festival. The wider festival runs from 24 September to 4 October, with the Dolder Grand hotel in Zurich as the Summit venue, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Basner said FilmNation will make four films and a television series in 2026. Four more films are already in pre-production, the preparation stage before cameras roll, for next year. He hopes to add another three.
That is a clear step up in volume. The plan points to seven possible productions for 2027 if the extra three move forward.
Two titles show where that slate is heading. Florian Zeller's Bunker and Peter Farrelly's I Play Rocky are both screening as Zurich Film Festival titles. Bunker had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival before arriving in Switzerland.
I Play Rocky looks back at the making of the 1976 film Rocky. It follows a young Sylvester Stallone as he bets on himself to play the boxer he wrote. The story is about getting a film made, not the fight in the ring.
For audiences, this gives two festival entries a wider context. Bunker arrives in Zurich with a Venice launch behind it. I Play Rocky revisits one of Hollywood's best-known underdog stories from behind the camera.
