No right angles: Inside the Skywalker Grill above Los Angeles

There is not a single 90-degree angle in the Skywalker Grill.
The fifth-floor restaurant and bar sits atop the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles and looks out over the city skyline. It is open to museum visitors and the general public for lunch and dinner, according to design coverage published on 26 September 2026. Dezeen
The space was designed by the Los Angeles office of Rockwell Group. The team shaped it to follow the museum building's sweeping curves and biomorphic architecture, a term for design based on the forms of living things. The museum building itself was designed by MAD Architects.
Everything bends. Walls curve, counters turn and seating follows the line of the room. The curved walls are wrapped in cherry wood panels that were individually crafted, with no two panels alike.
The warm wood and deep colours point north. The interior refers to the cherry wood rooms of Skywalker Ranch, the 4,700-acre retreat and workspace owned by filmmaker George Lucas in Marin County, California.
For visitors, the practical details are simple. No museum ticket is needed to book a table. The restaurant stays open after the galleries have closed, and museum members receive special access to reservations. Museum materials also list weekend brunch alongside lunch and dinner. Lucas Museum
The setting is Exposition Park, home to the US$1 billion museum. Los Angeles Times The museum opened to the public on 22 September 2026. The restaurant was announced on 11 August 2026, with reservations opening that month. Los Angeles Times
What makes this stand out is how little it feels like an add-on. The curves continue the building. The wood brings in the workplace of the man whose collection helped fill the galleries below.
