Australia beat Scotland 30-10 in Edinburgh on Saturday 26 September 2026 to finish their WXV Global Series campaign with a win. The Wallaroos trailed 10-5 at half-time at Hive Stadium, then scored 25 unanswered points after the break. The Guardian

Scotland started fast. Back-row Evie Gallagher crashed over for an early try, which is worth five points, and the conversion added two more. Fly-half Helen Nelson then kicked a penalty, worth three points, to stretch the lead.

Australia stayed in touch through winger Desiree Miller. She touched down in the corner to make it 10-5 at the interval. The lead did not last long.

Scrum-half Samantha Wood, the link between forwards and backs, scored early in the second half to put Australia in front. She added two penalties as the visitors pulled clear. Tries from prop Brianna Hoy and centre Faitala Moleka completed the turnaround.

The result left Scotland without a win from their three home games. They had already lost their opening two WXV fixtures to Canada and New Zealand. Australia had arrived in Edinburgh after defeats by England and then France, so the victory stopped their own losing run.

The match kicked off at 4.10pm and was Scotland’s final home fixture of the inaugural Vodafone Scotland WXV Series, staged at Hive Stadium through September. Scotland made four changes for the game, with Hannah Ramsay, Sarah Bonar, Evie Wills and Rachel McLachlan coming into the line-up. Scottish Rugby

What makes this stand out is the swing in momentum. Scotland had the energy and the scoreboard in the first 40 minutes. Australia had the depth and accuracy in the second, when tackles get heavier and mistakes cost more.
