La Gradiva takes top jury and audience prizes at record Queer Lisboa
Marine Atlan's La Gradiva won best feature film and the Audience Award at the 30th Queer Lisboa – International Queer Film Festival, Variety reported on 26 September 2026. The double win closed a nine-day edition in Lisbon. The crowd agreed with the jury.
The film runs 145 minutes and is a 2026 co-production between France and Italy, according to the festival's line-up notes published by Queer Lisboa. It had already taken the top prize at Cannes Critics' Week, the sidebar in Cannes devoted to first and second films, Variety reported. That earlier win put Atlan on the international festival circuit well before Lisbon.
La Gradiva is now one of five finalists to become France's entry for the Best International Feature Oscar, Variety reported. The French selection committee narrows the list before choosing its official submission. A Lisbon jury prize does not affect that decision, but it extends the film's run of festival recognition.
The documentary prizes also went to a double winner. Lorena Ros' Up and Running, titled Corren las Liebres in Spanish, won both best documentary and an Audience Award at Queer Lisboa, Variety reported. The festival closed with a screening of Leah Nelson's animated feature Tangles.
The 30th edition drew more than 11,500 admissions across 67 screenings over nine days, the highest attendance in the festival's history, Variety reported. That figure was 53% higher than in 2025. Queer Lisboa began in 1997 as the first film festival in Lisbon.
What makes this stand out is the rare overlap. Jury awards and audience awards often split. In Lisbon this year, both pointed the same way for Atlan's feature and for Ros' documentary, giving two films a clear send-off from a record crowd.
