Liverpool beat Everton 2-0 at Anfield on 27 September to win a home Women's Super League Merseyside derby for the first time.

The Merseyside derby is the meeting of Liverpool and Everton, the two big clubs from either side of Stanley Park. Everton had won all six previous WSL visits to Anfield. Not this time. The Guardian

Liverpool struck fast. Inside four minutes, Natalia Ramos swung in a corner from the right and Beata Olsson rose ahead of marker Hannah Blundell to head home. An early lead. A loud crowd. Exactly what you want in a derby.

The second half stayed lively. Vivien Endemann crashed a volley against the crossbar after the break. Everton midfielder Ruby Mace then made two huge interventions, blocking a Natalia Ramos shot from fewer than 10 yards with just over 20 minutes left before hooking a Cornelia Kapocs effort off the line.

Kapocs would not be denied. She scored Liverpool's second in the closing stages to seal the 2-0 win, as confirmed by the club's own report on the Olsson and Kapocs goals. Liverpool FC

The result moved Gareth Taylor's Liverpool to seven points from their opening four games. Their only defeat in that run came away to Manchester City, the defending champions. It is a solid start in the Barclays Women's Super League, the top flight of women's football in England.

Everton are finding goals hard to come by. Their only two league goals this season have been own goals by the opposition.

What makes this stand out is the history. Six trips, six wins for Everton. That record can weigh on players and fans alike. On a September afternoon at Anfield, Liverpool finally flipped it, and gave their supporters a derby memory to keep.
