Lexi Potter pushes for England call after Chelsea beat Arsenal

Chelsea midfielder Lexi Potter is pushing for a first senior England call-up.
The 20-year-old has started three of Chelsea's four league games this season. England will name their squad for the October internationals at 1pm on Wednesday 30 September 2026, according to England Football.
Potter helped Chelsea to a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in the Women's Super League, England's top division. It was Chelsea's third league clean sheet in a row, meaning they did not concede a goal in any of those three games, according to BBC.
She is playing in central midfield alongside Keira Walsh. Walsh is England's established holding player. Potter has started with her in three matches so far.
The numbers are strong. Potter has played 207 minutes in the WSL this season. She has completed 93% of her passes and made 21 recoveries, which means winning the ball back for her team.
This is not out of nowhere. Potter scored the winner on her first WSL start against Brighton in March. Before that she spent two years on loan at Crystal Palace, where she played regular first-team football.
Praise is building. Former England striker Ellen White has called Potter "a special player". Chelsea team-mate Lucy Bronze has said she could be the next Keira Walsh.
For fans, this means a familiar story with a fresh face. A young player learns on loan, returns ready, and seizes her chance. Now the next step is waiting on that squad list.
