O'Sullivan, Zhao and Williams fall on Shenzhen Open opening day

Ronnie O'Sullivan, world number one Zhao Xintong and defending champion Mark Williams all lost on the opening day of the Shenzhen Open in China on 28 September.
Three of the draw's biggest names went out before the tournament had found its rhythm. The results were reported by BBC Sport.
Jiang Jun beat O'Sullivan 5-2 in the second round. Jiang, 64th in the world rankings, closed out the match with a break of 108, a century break of 100 or more points in a single visit. He will play Zak Surety next.
Scott Donaldson beat Zhao in a final-frame decider. Donaldson is ranked 65 places below Zhao, the 2025 world champion. He will play Pang Junxu in round three.
Williams lost 5-4 to Fan Zhengyi. The Welshman had arrived as defending champion. Fan held on in the decider to remove him.
Elsewhere, Judd Trump beat Huang Jiahao 5-0. Trump then moved into the last 16 after Anthony McGill withdrew on medical grounds. Neil Robertson beat Liu Hongyu 5-2 and Si Jiahui beat Oliver Lines 5-1.
Chris Wakelin beat Liam Davies 5-3 to progress. Ben Mertens also went through after Mark Allen withdrew for personal reasons.
The Shenzhen Open runs from 28 September to 4 October, according to the World Snooker Tour. The event carries a total prize fund of £850,000, with £177,000 for the winner, according to the World Snooker Tour.
What makes this stand out is the spread of the damage. One loose positional shot can turn a frame. On this evidence, one loose session turned the whole opening day.
