London has a new name: Trafalgar. At least it does in the world of Grand Theft Auto.

YouTuber CityEd has created a fan-made map that imagines what the British capital would look like as a GTA city, Eurogamer reported on 28 September 2026. Grand Theft Auto, for anyone new to it, is a long-running open-world series from Rockstar Games where players explore fictional cities inspired by real places. The idea is playful, but the execution is detailed.

CityEd plays along with that tradition. He does not call his version London. He calls it Trafalgar.

It is a neat fit. The name nods to Trafalgar Square, one of central London's well-known landmarks, while sounding like the kind of invented city name the series uses. Liberty City stands in for New York. Los Santos stands in for Los Angeles. Trafalgar stands in for London.

The wordplay continues across the map. Kings Cross, the major rail terminus in the north of central London, becomes Dukes Cross.

CityEd lays out his thinking in a 30-minute video titled 'I GTA-ised London's map', published on YouTube. The running time gives him room to do two things at once. He explains how he built the map, and he explores the real-world history behind the places shown.

That second part matters. London's streets carry centuries of history. A half-hour format lets him pause on those details instead of rushing past them. Viewers get design choices with context attached.

Viewers who want to study the result can get a PDF copy of the map through Patreon, the membership platform where creators share files and extras with supporters. It is a simple offer. Watch the video, then keep the map.

What makes this stand out is the care with names. GTA place names do a lot of quiet work. They hint at the real city without copying it. They set a tone. Trafalgar and Dukes Cross do exactly that.

You do not need to play GTA to enjoy it. Think of it as alternate-universe cartography. Same river, same streets, new lens. No mods to install, no game to buy. Just a map and the story behind it.
