Chuck Lorre picks up rare charity honour as memoir release nears

Television hitmaker Chuck Lorre has added a rare charity honour to a very busy week.
Lorre accepted a founders award from Project Angel Food at the organisation's Angel Awards in Los Angeles, as reported by the Hollywood Reporter on 28 September. The honour has only been presented twice. The other recipient was founder Marianne Williamson.
His support helped the charity break ground on the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Kitchen & Campus. Project Angel Food delivers meals to people living with serious illness.
On the red carpet, Lorre spoke to the Hollywood Reporter about three separate threads: his forthcoming memoir, the Paramount-Warner Bros. Discovery merger, and his latest comedy project.
The memoir is titled Sitcom. It runs to 368 pages and is scheduled for release on 13 October 2026, according to publisher listing information from HarperCollins. It will be published through Dey Street Books, an imprint of HarperCollins, as first detailed by People. It will be available in hardcover, e-book and digital audiobook formats. The hardcover is priced at $32.00.
Writing it was personal. Lorre said the hardest part was writing about regrets around his relationship with his father. He also said he shared sections about his ex-wives with them in advance to avoid hurting their feelings.
Then came the business question. Asked about the Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery merger, meaning the combining of two large studio and streaming owners, Lorre said the “corporate stuff” does not affect his day-to-day job of trying to make people laugh. He had also poked fun at the merger at the premiere for his Big Bang Theory spinoff in July, according to Yahoo.
That spinoff is Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, a new series built around a character from The Big Bang Theory and associated with Lorre.
For viewers, this means a short wait. The book lands in two weeks. The new comedy is on the way. And the man behind them just took a night off for charity.
