Dasha to Pause Shows for Vocal Surgery Ahead of New Album

Dasha will have surgery on Oct. 22 to remove nodes from her vocal cords and will then pause performing while she recovers.
Nodes are small, callus-like growths that can leave a voice hoarse, tired or unreliable. She said hers came mainly from talking rather than singing, after two-and-a-half years on the road, she told Billboard in an interview published Sept. 29.
That distinction matters for working singers. Hours of speaking on tour buses, at meet-and-greets, in interviews and backstage can strain the voice as much as a set. Dasha said that constant use caught up with her.
The operation will take place at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She said country singer Jordan Davis had the same procedure with the same doctor and talked her through his experience beforehand.
She has two live dates left before the break. She plays Sept. 30 in San Luis Obispo, California, at the Madonna Inn, followed by Oct. 10 at the Music Fiesta at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in New Mexico.
Recovery will start with silence. She will be on complete vocal rest for two weeks, with no talking allowed, then begin vocal rehab, a programme of guided exercises to rebuild healthy use of the voice.
She expects to be speaking again in time to walk the red carpet at the CMA Awards on Nov. 18. Singing will take longer, and she will not rush back to the stage.
For fans, this means a quiet autumn followed by a busy new year. Her third full-length studio album, a standard album-length record rather than a shorter EP, is due in the first quarter of next year on Warner Records, the major label she records for.
The album is co-produced by Bardo Novotny and Ben Johnson, meaning they oversaw the recording and shaped its sound alongside her. Dasha co-wrote every song on the record. She has already released three of them, with ‘82 Chevy’ following earlier tracks ‘Memo’ and ‘Mad About It’.
She plans a worldwide tour later in 2027 once she has recovered. No dates have been announced yet, and for now the focus is rest, rehab and getting her voice right.
