Prince Harry will mark Remembrance Day privately rather than join public commemorations in London.

A friend of the prince told HELLO! he has “no desire to create drama” or to distract from his family’s role in the national commemorations. The account was published on 29 September 2026.

Harry has not taken part in the National Remembrance Sunday events since November 2019. Remembrance Sunday, the annual service at the Cenotaph, the Whitehall war memorial that is the focus for the national act of remembrance, is led by the King and senior working royals.

The prince served for a decade in the Army, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan. His military service has remained central to his public work since he stepped back from working royal life.

In a previous year, palace officials turned down his request for a wreath to be laid at the Cenotaph on his behalf. Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were instead pictured laying flowers at the graves of two Commonwealth soldiers at Los Angeles National Cemetery.

The report on his Remembrance plans follows a busy September diary on both sides of the Atlantic. On 17 September 2026, Harry made his first public appearances since returning to British soil, according to Reuters. He then attended the annual WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on 21 September 2026 without Meghan.

He flew on to New York. Harry attended the 2026 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting at the New York Hilton Midtown on 23 September 2026 and spoke onstage about shaping AI, according to People. The meeting, convened by President Bill Clinton, Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton and Chelsea Clinton, ran on 22-23 September in New York. It closed with the launch of 60 new Commitments to Action, the pledges of practical projects made by participants.

For fans, this means a quiet November. No wreath party at the Cenotaph. No balcony appearance. A private act of remembrance instead.
