Lauren Halsey turns Hollywood Bowl stage over to Erykah Badu and The Alchemist
Erykah Badu and The Alchemist will perform inside a world built by artist Lauren Halsey at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on September 29.

Halsey has designed the stage for Badu and The Alchemist. That detail was confirmed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the organisation that announced the show. In a July update it also said Flea would join a line-up led by Badu and The Alchemist. Hollywood Bowl press release
Event listings for September 29 also name DJ Pee alongside Badu and The Alchemist. The setting is the story. Halsey will transform the Bowl with an immersive world, ARTnews a term used for sets and structures that surround the audience rather than sitting behind the performers.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic first announced the emajendat project with Badu in April. The July announcement added staging and line-up detail. That sequence makes the September date the payoff to a five-month build-up.
Halsey was born in Los Angeles in 1987. She is known for large-scale installations that draw on the architecture and street life of South Los Angeles. The Bowl night extends that practice into a working music venue.
Her role as a connector runs through the programme. The Los Angeles jazz duo Black Nile were connected with Badu through Halsey, the Los Angeles Times reported on September 27. That link points to relationships formed in the city rather than a standard tour booking.
Tickets are listed at US$44–US$209, according to Time Out. Ticket holders are advised to check the Bowl's listing before travelling, as door times can shift on show day. The Bowl is an open-air amphitheatre in Hollywood, where September evenings can turn cool after dark.
For fans, this means a concert where the room shares the billing. Badu arrives with a long performing history and a live show built around change from night to night. Halsey provides the physical space for that to happen in. The interest on September 29 is in how the music sits inside it.
