West Indies smash record 405-7 as three hit hundreds against India

West Indies have posted 405 for seven against India in Guwahati. It is their highest total in a one-day international, a 50-overs-a-side game.
The second ODI took place at ACA Stadium, Barsapara, Guwahati on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. The previous West Indies best was 389 against England at St George's in 2019, according to BBC Sport.
Three batters made hundreds. Amir Jangoo led the way with 114. Captain Shai Hope made 104. Opener John Campbell made 101.
Campbell set the pace. He hit five sixes. He took 22 runs from one over bowled by Prasidh Krishna.
The partnerships built fast. Campbell and Hope added 110 runs in 79 balls for the second wicket. Hope and Jangoo then added 182 for the third wicket. The running was sharp. The boundaries kept coming.
India had a difficult day with the ball. Prasidh Krishna and Naman Dhir both picked up injuries during the innings. Debutant seamer Auqib Nabi conceded 84 runs. That is the fourth-most runs conceded by an Indian on ODI debut.
The visitors arrived in Guwahati trailing the series. India won the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram on 27 September by eight wickets with 50 balls remaining. West Indies made 295 for seven in that game, with Jangoo unbeaten on 58 from 43 balls and Kuldeep Yadav taking four for 40. Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli both scored centuries in the chase.
There was also noise off the field. Reports of a 25% pay cut for West Indies players emerged less than a week before this match. The team have also been consigned to a qualifier in early 2027 in the race for the World Cup.
What makes this stand out is the rarity. This was only the sixth time in ODI history that one team has had three centurions in the same innings.
India's chase had begun at the latest live score, with the board showing 107 without loss after 12.2 overs. The three-match series is scheduled to conclude with the third ODI at the PCA International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
