Princess Margaret's Grandson Samuel Chatto Steps Out Solo for Riviera Show Preview

Samuel Chatto took in the art alone in London on Sept. 28.
The 30-year-old, the eldest grandson of the late Princess Margaret, attended a private viewing of "Painting The French Riviera" at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. He wore an all-black suit and posed alone for photos at the early preview, according to Town & Country.
The show is a look at the coast of southern France through paint. It opens to the public on Oct. 2 and features works by Paul Cezanne, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Claude Monet, among others.
The Royal Academy lists the run from Oct. 2, 2026 to Jan. 31, 2027, according to Royal Academy.
Chatto is the son of Lady Sarah and Daniel Chatto. He is not a working royal with palace duties. He is a working artist.
He is a ceramicist, as noted by HELLO!. He attended Eton College, the all-boys boarding school west of London, and studied History of Art at the University of Edinburgh. After university he completed a six-week apprenticeship at North Shore Pottery in Scotland and finished a course at the Royal Drawing School in London in 2020.
Art runs in the family. His mother, Lady Sarah Chatto, trained at the Royal Academy Schools, the art school attached to the Academy.
The outing came weeks after a big personal milestone. Chatto announced in summer 2026 that he was engaged to longtime girlfriend Eleanor Ekserdjian. He proposed with a porcelain ring he designed himself. The couple plan to marry in spring 2027, with no specific date announced yet.
Their last public appearance together was in June 2026. They attended the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling.
What makes this stop a natural fit is the medium. Chatto makes objects by hand. This time he came to look.
