BTS' RM unveils personal art collection at SFMOMA

BTS leader RM formally introduced his first museum show on Tuesday, Sept. 29, days before it opens to the public in San Francisco.
The exhibition is titled ‘RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me’. It puts 200 works from his personal collection on display at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and opens on Saturday, October 3, according to the museum SFMOMA.
“This exhibition is a pretty long introduction of myself, and I feel embarrassed, kind of,” RM said during his opening speech, as reported by Billboard.
RM told the audience he started visiting museums and looking closely at art about eight years ago. That habit grew into collecting.
The museum proposal arrived about two years ago. RM said it came while he was carrying out obligatory military service in South Korea.
The show focuses heavily on Korean modern and contemporary art. The museum lists works by Yun Hyong-keun, Park Rehyun and Chang Ucchin, with earlier announcements also naming Kim Yun Shin SFMOMA.
It is the first museum exhibition drawn from RM’s personal holdings. The works span paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, textiles and design pieces.
RM has added a personal layer to the display. The exhibition includes wall texts written in his own hand and a special audio guide narrated by him SFMOMA.
For fans, this means hearing the show in his voice as well as seeing it through his choices. The museum describes it as an intimate look at what inspires him and why.
The run is set for October 3, 2026 through February 7, 2027. SFMOMA closed its seventh floor to prepare the space, and says tickets were released on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at 10 a.m.
The museum will also hold Rooftop Radio: K-pop on Thursday, October 15, an event built around K-pop music, dance and community. Guests aged 18 and younger receive free admission to the museum as standard.
