Courtney Glaudé to Launch Tyler Perry Studios' Maxscene With Thriller Conditioned

Courtney Glaudé is the first filmmaker to join Maxscene, Tyler Perry Studios' newly launched specialty division, with his psychological thriller Conditioned lined up as its first release, according to Deadline. The film is written and directed by Glaudé. It is teased for release in early 2027.
Maxscene is built to expand theatrical opportunities for filmmakers with distinctive voices, according to Deadline. A specialty division is a smaller label inside a larger studio, focused on particular films rather than the main slate. The studio notes that Maxscene develops, produces and distributes films across genres, according to Tyler Perry Studios.
Glaudé already sits at the centre of the Perry operation. He currently helms three Tyler Perry-created series, Sistas, Zatima and Ruthless. In 2024, he was tapped as Executive Creator of Scripted and Unscripted under an overall deal with Tyler Perry Studios, a contract that keeps a creator making programmes for one company, according to Deadline. It is a promotion from within.
His credits behind the camera include the short film Old Gray Mare, which he wrote and directed. It won Best Film, Best Director and Best Script at the BronzeLens Awards. His feature directorial debut, The Reading, was executive produced by Lee Daniels and premiered on BET+, a US streaming service, in February 2023, according to Deadline.
Development and acquisitions at Tyler Perry Studios, the work of finding scripts and finished films to back, is led by Antoinetta Stallings as Head of Development & Acquisitions. The new label will draw on a large physical base. Tyler Perry Studios occupies a 330-acre lot in Atlanta on the historic grounds of the former Fort McPherson army base, according to Tyler Perry Studios.
The site holds twelve purpose-built sound stages and more than 220 acres of groomed greenspace. It includes forty buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. The studio describes Fort McPherson as the fourth expansion of Perry's operation, after he acquired the lot in 2015.
What makes this stand out is continuity. Glaudé moves from running long-running shows to opening a new film label without leaving the studio system that backed him. The next step is simple. A thriller made for cinemas, with a date to watch in early 2027.
