Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will fight at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on 11 December.

The date is set for Friday, 11 December 2026, according to Matchroom Boxing. Both men are British former heavyweight champions, Fury is 38 and Joshua is 36, and they faced the media together in London on Wednesday, 30 September, ahead of the scheduled bout, according to BBC Sport.

No trash talk. No shoving. At the London news conference, Fury and Joshua exchanged pleasantries, traded jokes and even talked about going for a pint.

The friendly meeting followed a tense few days. On Saturday, 26 September, promoter Dana White expressed uncertainty over the bout, putting the fight in doubt, according to Reuters. On Monday, 28 September, uncertainty remained because of contractual disagreements surrounding the promotion. A number of issues were then resolved before Wednesday, when the first press conference was expected to go ahead in London, according to Sky Sports.

The two have history. They shared a sparring session back in 2010, when Joshua was still an amateur working his way through the unpaid ranks.

There is still a wrinkle over what is on the line. The fight has been reported as being for the vacant WBA 'super' heavyweight title. The WBA is one of boxing's four major sanctioning bodies, and its 'super' belt is its top version of the world title in a division. Current WBA heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev's team has lodged a formal objection over that proposed arrangement.

Fans in Britain may need coffee. The main event in Cardiff could start at about 02:00 GMT to suit American audiences.

What makes this stand out is the wait. For fans, this means two of Britain's most famous heavyweights finally sharing a professional ring after years of talk, false starts and rival title runs.
