NBCUniversal hires Fire TV's Jamia Bigalow to lead partner marketing

NBCUniversal has hired Jamia Bigalow from Amazon to lead partner marketing across its distribution business.
Bigalow starts on Thursday, Oct. 1 as executive vice president of partner marketing in the platform distribution and partnerships group, according to Variety. It is the team that gets NBCUniversal channels, shows and apps onto other companies' services. Her first day falls on the current date, Oct. 1.
She will report to Matt Schnaars, president of NBCUniversal Platform Distribution & Partnerships. She will be based at the company's West Coast headquarters in Universal City. In the role, she will run campaigns with streaming, broadcast and cable distribution partners, meaning the pay-TV providers, broadcast affiliates and streaming platforms that carry NBCUniversal programming, working alongside the company's internal marketing and growth teams.
Bigalow arrives from Amazon's Fire TV, where she most recently headed partner marketing. There she served as head of brand and integrated marketing and built the organisation's partner marketing function from scratch. She joined Amazon in January 2021.
Her career before that was in television distribution. She spent more than a decade at Fox Networks Group, leading distribution marketing across its entertainment, news and sports properties. Before joining Fox in 2005, she was director of affiliate marketing for NFL Network as part of its launch team. Earlier roles included marketing posts at Disney and Starz. She holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Arizona State University.
The hire comes with a second change in the same group. Lindsay Vogelman has been promoted to senior vice president, strategic partnerships and business development. She will focus on new distribution opportunities and revenue streams across global partners, working with Gus O'Brien, who is president, international networks and direct-to-consumer for NBCUniversal Media Group.
For viewers, this is backstage work. Partner marketing is the joint promotion between a programmer such as NBCUniversal and the distributors that sell its services. That is the bundle offer, the on-screen prompt or the co-branded advert that tells you where to find a show.
