Trailer Park Boys actor Mike Smith cleared as sexual assault charge is dismissed

Mike Smith, the actor best known for playing Bubbles on Trailer Park Boys, has had a sexual assault charge against him dismissed.
His three-day trial began Thursday in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Judge Jill Hartlen halted the trial after Crown prosecutors declined to present any evidence. The Hollywood Reporter
Crown prosecutors are the state lawyers who bring criminal cases in Canada. When they offer no evidence, there is nothing for the court to weigh. Hartlen stopped the proceedings on that basis. The decision brings the single charge against Smith to an end.
The case concerned one count of sexual assault. Legal proceedings against Smith, whose full name is Michael Smith, began in October 2025. The allegation dated to December 2017, a gap of almost eight years between the alleged incident and the charge being laid.
Smith pleaded not guilty. A not guilty plea means a defendant contests the allegation and requires it to be tested at trial. That trial had been listed to run for three days in Dartmouth. It did not reach a second day of evidence.
News of the charge became public in early November 2025. Reports at the time said Smith had been charged in Nova Scotia over the alleged 2017 incident. BBC
Shortly after the charge, Smith stepped away from Trailer Park Boys Inc. The company said then that it was aware of the allegation concerning Smith. Variety Contemporary reporting said he paused his work as managing director while the case moved through the court system. CBC He was 53 when he was charged. People
That pause lasted almost a year. From the October 2025 charge to the October 2026 court date, Smith stayed out of his company duties. The break covered the full period in which the allegation was before the courts.
Trailer Park Boys Inc. now says Smith is resuming his responsibilities with the company now that he is cleared. The company lists three directors: Smith, John Paul Tremblay and Robert Wells. That board structure keeps ownership and management inside a small group. The Hollywood Reporter
For viewers, the outcome settles who sits behind the company rather than what appears on screen. No further court dates have been reported in connection with the charge. Any next step, from production plans to public appearances, now rests with the company and Smith himself.
