Horror-pop act LVCRFT released its new album, Skeleton Sam's Deadtime Stories, on Thursday, Oct. 1. The record is the group's eighth album and continues its run of an album every October. It is out in digital format on the group's own label, Spooky Never Sleeps, according to the group's release listing LVCRFT.

LVCRFT is the trio of Evan Bogart, Amanda Warner and Peter Wade. The project started with 2019's This Is Halloween Volume 1. That record introduced Skeleton Sam. He became the face of the music and has stayed there since, as reported by Billboard.

The focus track is "My Boo." LVCRFT released a music video for the single alongside the album. Vocals on the song come from Jasmin Savoy Brown, a star of Scream. The video was directed by horror director Tyler MacIntyre, whose credits include Tragedy Girls and It's a Wonderful Knife.

Storytelling frames the album. Roger L. Jackson serves as host of Skeleton Sam's Deadtime Stories. Jackson is the voice actor behind Ghostface from Scream. The structure gives the record a narrator to link the songs.

One track brings together two familiar horror names. A Nightmare on Elm Street stars Heather Langenkamp and Robert Englund reconnect on "Scream for Halloween." The pairing puts the franchise's lead actor and its villain in the same song.

The guest list leans heavily on film and television. Ginger Snaps actor Katharine Isabelle makes her musical debut on the album. The record also features Bruce Campbell, Jenna Davis, Ernie Hudson, Mick Garris, Alyssa Sutherland, Cindy Weintraub, John Kassir, Robert Rodriguez and David Dastmalchian.

Two of those guests are known for voice work. Kassir is the voice of the Crypt Keeper from Tales from the Crypt. Davis is the voice of M3GAN. Their casting keeps the album close to horror history while adding new singers to the LVCRFT roster.

For listeners, the appeal is the mix. Actors step up to the microphone. A voice actor guides the running order. A film director handles the video. It is the same October slot LVCRFT has used since 2019, with a new cast built around Skeleton Sam.

The release keeps the group's seasonal pattern intact. Eight albums in eight Octobers, as noted by Fangoria. Each one arrives in time for Halloween. This one hands the microphone to some of the genre's best-known performers.
