Lady Gaga Apologises to Golloria Over Haus Labs Bronzer Shades

Lady Gaga has apologised to beauty creator Golloria George over the shade range of Haus Labs' Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil and over how the brand first handled her criticism. The statement was shared through Haus Labs' Instagram on Oct. 1, as reported by Billboard.
Gaga said the bronzer's original six-shade line-up fell short. She said the decision to go ahead with those six shades was not the right decision. The launch was paused.
The dispute began in May, when Golloria tested the liquid bronzer before its release. She swatched three of the darkest shades on her complexion and posted her reaction online. She questioned whether the range would work for deeper skin tones and said she was disappointed, given her past appreciation for Haus Labs' complexion products.
Golloria, whose full name is Golloria George according to NJ.com, also said the brand asked her to take down her review. The reason given was embargo, the industry practice where a product is shared early on condition it is not posted about until a set date. Gaga confirmed that account, saying Haus Labs asked Golloria to remove the post because she had received the product under embargo.
In her statement, Gaga said that initial response was wrong. She said Haus Labs takes responsibility for its mistakes. She also said the team had used the past months to hold internal conversations about what went wrong and how to prevent a repeat.
Haus Labs returned to development to expand the range. The Sun Dipped Bronzing Veil is now set to launch with 11 shades. The brand's website lists them as Mirage, Oasis, Mahogany, Rich, Playa, Sienna, Suede, Dune, Golden, Sand and Rise.
Gaga apologised directly to Golloria and to the wider community. She credited Golloria's willingness to speak up with prompting the brand to reconsider the launch. The apology came four months after Golloria first raised the issue, as noted by Yahoo.
For shoppers, this means the product that drew the criticism in May is not the one going on sale. The unreleased bronzer was held back, reworked and broadened before release.
