'Concrete Turned to Sand' Shares Clip Ahead of London Premiere

An exclusive clip from 'Concrete Turned to Sand' has been premiered by The Hollywood Reporter ahead of the film's international premiere in London, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The documentary is directed by Vancouver-based film-makers Jessica Johnson and Ryan Ermacora. It is scheduled to screen from Oct. 11 in the Documentary Competition at the BFI London Film Festival, where non-fiction features compete as a dedicated strand of the programme.
The London screening will be the film's international premiere. It previously held its world premiere at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The setting is water. The film was shot around oyster farms in British Columbia, Canada, including on the coast of the Discovery Islands.
It was shot on 35mm, traditional celluloid film stock rather than digital video, with Jeremy Cox as cinematographer. The soundscape was built with sound artist and musician Scott Gailey, and the production comes from Slag Pile Films.
The title is listed in the 2026 festival programme, according to the BFI programme listing. The BFI announced the full programme for the 70th edition of the festival in early September, according to the BFI.
What makes this stand out for festival audiences is the craft setup. A small crew, a film camera and a location-driven shoot point to a close look at working coastal life rather than a studio build.
