Disney Sends Percy Jackson, Ice Age and More to Netflix in Sharing Deal
Percy Jackson is heading to Netflix — but only for a short stay.
Disney Entertainment has struck an expansive content licensing deal with Netflix covering library titles and current-season TV shows, as reported by Variety. The deal is on a nonexclusive basis, meaning the titles also stay on Disney+ and Hulu.
The first wave lands on 4 Oct. Seasons 1-2 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians will stream on Netflix globally for three months. It is a promotional window, meaning a limited run tied to a new release, ahead of Season 3 premiering on Disney+ on 20 Nov.
The same three-month window applies to animation. All five 20th Century Studios Ice Age films arrive on Netflix worldwide on 4 Oct.
That covers Ice Age (2002), Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age: Continental Drift (2012) and Ice Age: Collision Course (2016). The run is timed ahead of Ice Age: Boiling Point, due in theatres on 5 Feb 2027.
More current broadcast series follow. Will Trent Seasons 1-4 will be on Netflix globally from 3 Nov, ahead of Season 5 premiering on ABC in early 2027. Shifting Gears Seasons 1-2 arrives on Netflix on 1 Dec in the United States and internationally in January, ahead of Season 3 premiering on ABC on 7 Jan 2027.
Tracker follows a different pattern. Seasons 1-3 will be on Netflix internationally outside the US from 26 Feb 2027, while Season 4 premieres on CBS on 4 Oct, according to Variety.
Animated features come next year. Soul, Elio, Raya and the Last Dragon and other non-franchised Disney-branded films from Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar will stream on Netflix globally beginning in early 2027. Title availability and launch dates vary by region.
The deal also pulls older catalogue, meaning finished series from past years, onto Netflix. Felicity arrives in the US on 7 Oct and in other countries at later dates. Revenge and Army Wives will stream globally, Fresh Off the Boat in the US and select regions, and This Is Us internationally outside the US. This Is Us was previously licensed to Netflix in the US in 2024-25.
All titles now on Disney+, including the Ice Age films and Percy Jackson, and on Hulu will remain there. That continuity is part of the agreement.
For fans, this means more choice about where to catch up. A viewer can watch an older season on Netflix, then move to Disney+, Hulu or broadcast for the new one. Disney previously ended its distribution agreement with Netflix for new subscription streaming releases beginning with calendar year 2019 to stock its own service, so shared runs of this scale are new again.
