Gloucester hit Harlequins for eight in 48-0 Kingsholm rout

Gloucester thrashed Harlequins 48-0 at Kingsholm on Saturday, 3 October, to climb to the top of the early Prem table. The win made it two from two for the home side in England's top division. Quins sit bottom with zero points, according to BBC Sport.
The Cherry and Whites, Gloucester's long-standing nickname, led 24-0 at half-time. It was the club's Gallagher PREM home opener, a 5:30pm kick-off at Kingsholm Stadium billed as Matchday 02, per Gloucester Rugby. Gloucester then added four more tries after the break. Quins had no answer.
Eight tries did the damage. In rugby union, a try scores five points for grounding the ball in the in-goal area. Ben Loader, Jac Morgan, Will Trenholm, Charlie Atkinson, Seb Atkinson, Caolan Englefield, Will Joseph and George Barton each scored one, as listed by BBC Sport. George Barton kicked four conversions, the two-point kick at goal offered after each try.
Gloucester backed new faces for the home opener. Three signings started, including Wales internationals Jac Morgan and Dewi Lake. Morgan marked the occasion with a try. The spread of scorers, from forwards to backs, underlined how many carriers got over the gainline.
Harlequins handed a first appearance to George Furbank. The afternoon unravelled quickly. Flanker Will Evans was sin-binned, which in union means ten minutes off the field and a man short for his team. Sara Cox was the referee. The clubs had last met in March, when Gloucester won 26-19.
What makes this stand out is the shutout. Scoring 48 points is one thing. Conceding none takes tackle after tackle and full concentration for 80 minutes. For Gloucester supporters, it is a perfect start. For Quins, the fix must come fast.
