Gypsy-Rose Blanchard backs Kenan's Law petition after fiancé's death

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard has called for public support for Kenan's Law, a petition seeking to hold social media platforms to account over online harassment. She shared the Change.org petition titled "Support Kenan's Law: Fight Online Harassment" on Sunday, 4 October. The appeal follows the death of her fiancé Kenan Urker, also known as Ken Urker, in Louisiana, as reported by Variety and TMZ.
Urker was 34. He was found dead on Thursday in Raceland, Louisiana. Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Department Captain Brennan Matherne said deputies went to 107 Double H Drive, Lot 4 in Raceland after a 6:15 p.m. call and found Urker dead on arrival. The death investigation is continuing.
Earlier reporting by People said Urker was found unresponsive at a Louisiana home on his birthday. In the petition, Blanchard wrote that he died following a suspected overdose. She wrote that it was not known whether the overdose was intentional.
Authorities had not given an official cause of death at the time of earlier reporting, according to NBC News. That remains the position on the record. The sheriff's department has described the case as an ongoing death investigation.
Blanchard said she and Urker had repeatedly reported harassment and cyberbullying directed at him before his death. She named TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Reddit as places where the behaviour occurred. She said many of those reports were answered with "No violation." The petition argues that platforms should face clearer responsibility for acting on such complaints.
Urker and Blanchard are parents to a baby girl named Aurora. The couple welcomed their daughter in 2024. Urker appeared alongside Blanchard on Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, a Lifetime reality series, meaning an unscripted show that follows real life, which ran for two seasons.
What makes this stand out for viewers is the link between a television family and a wider question about reporting systems. For fans, this means the story now sits in two places at once: a private loss, and a public petition about how harassment reports are handled.
