The hits of La Oreja de Van Gogh are heading to the cinema.

The Spanish band's songs will be sung in and drive a romantic musical film titled “Puedes Contar Conmigo,” according to Variety, which reported the project on 5 October 2026. It is an original story, not a life story of the group, built around the band's lyrics.

Fernando González Molina is on board to direct, Variety reported. He is writing the script with Miguel López Martínez. The film is in an advanced stage of development and writing.

Beltrán Cortázar, Domingo Corral and Gonzalo Sálazar-Simpson are set to produce, according to Variety. La Oreja de Van Gogh will serve as executive producer, a senior credit that usually involves creative approval and guidance on the music rather than day-to-day filming.

The project draws on a catalogue built over almost 30 years. La Oreja de Van Gogh was founded in 1996 and has earned more than 50 Platinum and Gold Discs, according to Variety. The band is the only Spanish act with a song in Spotify's Billions Club, for tracks streamed more than one billion times.

That following was on show this year. The band staged a 2026 comeback tour with Amaia Montero back as lead vocalist, playing more than 100 concerts and selling over 400,000 tickets across Spain, according to Variety. The run continues into a 2026-2027 tour billed as “Tantas cosas que contar,” listed on the band's official website.

González Molina arrives with box-office history in Spain. His drama “Palm Trees in the Snow” took €17.1 million at the Spanish box office, according to Variety. He is known locally for large-scale romantic dramas and youth adaptations.

What makes this stand out is the timing. The film announcement lands in the band's 30th anniversary period, which has its own dedicated section on their official site, and keeps the songs in front of two audiences at once: concert crowds and cinema-goers.
