Alex Scott is out of England's game against the Czech Republic on Tuesday with a thigh injury.

The Bournemouth midfielder faces six to eight weeks on the sidelines with a quadriceps problem, the big muscle at the front of the thigh, after withdrawing from the squad on 5 October BBC Sport. It is rotten luck after the best weekend of his international career.

Scott had just made his full England debut on Saturday in the 7-0 Nations League win over Croatia. The Nations League is international football's biennial tournament, played alongside qualifying. He started in central midfield next to Elliot Anderson and played 70 minutes before being substituted.

He had felt the thigh issue before the Croatia match but was cleared to play. England let him start, then took him off with the game already won. The full extent of the damage only became clear afterwards.

For Bournemouth, the timing stings. The club are due to play nine games between 10 October and 8 November BBC Sport. Losing a first-choice midfielder for that whole stretch will test their depth.

Scott's rise has been quick. The midfielder from Guernsey earned his first senior England call-up for the final two World Cup qualifiers of 2025. He was then asked to join England's World Cup preparation camp in Florida last May alongside other young talents.

What makes this stand out is the contrast. Saturday gave him 70 minutes to remember, full of noise and goals. Tuesday will come without him, and the next two months will be about rehab, not rhythm.
