Alfie Boe and Lea Salonga to headline safari and song retreat in South Africa

Alfie Boe and Lea Salonga will headline a new series that pairs musical theatre performances with travel.
The series is called Spotlight. It launches with an edition in South Africa built around safaris, hospitality and live music.
Spotlight: South Africa runs from 7 to 11 August at Kapama Private Game Reserve in South Africa's Greater Kruger region, according to details published by WhatsOnStage. The reserve sits in Big Five country. Guests stay inside the safari setting rather than travelling in for a concert.
The plan blends daytime game drives with evening performances. Boe and Salonga will perform curated sets during the stay. They will also take part in conversations about their careers.
Music direction comes from Adam Howard. He will lead the musical side of the event.
The booking opens in three stages. Priority registration opens on 5 October, with pre-sale starting on 7 October and general booking on 9 October. Places are sold as part of the retreat package, which includes the safari and hospitality alongside the performances.
The organisers have run this kind of trip before. The Spotlight team says it has hosted more than 500 guests at nine retreats across four continents over six years.
For fans, this means close contact and small rooms. It is a holiday first, with concerts woven into the itinerary, not a tour date in a theatre. Expect binoculars by day and microphones by night.
