Jack O'Connell and Odessa A'zion will play two lonely strangers who fall in love on a quest to prove the Earth is flat.

That is the premise of The End of the World as We Know It, which cast the pair as its leads, according to Variety. Cameras roll in Canada in November.

The film is the feature debut for Ross White and Tom Berkeley. The pair are writing and directing, Variety reported.

White and Berkeley are no strangers to awards season. They won the 2023 Academy Award for Best Live Action Short for An Irish Goodbye.

Production is set for next month in Canada. No plot details beyond the central pilgrimage have been disclosed.

Behind the camera, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner are producing for Working Title Films, with Olivier Kaempfer producing for Parkville Pictures, according to Variety. The film is fully financed by Studiocanal, with Film4 on board to co-finance, meaning it provides part of the budget, and to executive produce.

The executive team includes Anna Marsh, Ron Halpern and Joe Naftalin for Studiocanal, and Katherine Pomfret and Thea Paulett for Working Title.

Studiocanal will release the film in theatres in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia and New Zealand. The company is also handling worldwide sales, the business of selling cinema rights country by country, according to Variety.

What makes this stand out is the combination. An Oscar-winning short-film duo, a British-American lead pair, and a road story built around one of the internet's strangest beliefs.
