Sam Altman found Andrew Garfield dressed as him outside his house

Sam Altman walked out for morning coffee and found Andrew Garfield dressed as him outside his house.
Altman said he had seen filming notices on his street, then came across the production for Luca Guadagnino's upcoming film Artificial one morning, according to Variety. He said some scenes were shot outside his house. He looked over and saw Garfield in his clothes, carrying his backpack.
They waved at each other. That was it.
Altman said he has never met or spoken with Garfield apart from that wave, according to Variety. Garfield, a two-time Oscar nominee, portrays Altman in the film, according to Vanity Fair. Artificial depicts the five-day period in 2023 when Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, was ousted from the company and then rehired, according to Variety.
Altman discussed the film for the first time in a Vanity Fair cover story, according to Variety. The magazine published the conversation as a two-part exclusive interview titled "Sam Altman Sees the Future. Are We In It?", according to Vanity Fair. Part 1 takes up his portrayal by Garfield.
He had praise for the impression. After watching the trailer, Altman said Garfield nailed his walk and quirky mannerisms, according to Variety. The trailer shows Garfield as Altman walking down the staircase of a luxurious mansion before entering a basement, according to The Guardian.
He does not expect a faithful record. Altman said he does not expect Artificial to be an accurate depiction, according to Variety. He pointed to one trailer scene that shows him rushing into a bunker with guns on the wall. There is no bunker with firearms on the wall, he said.
Altman also asserted he did not speak to anyone at Amazon, including Jeff Bezos, about the movie, according to Variety.
For fans, this means the real Altman is watching his screen double from a distance. Vanity Fair included Artificial, starring Garfield as Altman, in its Fall movie preview titled "60 New Movies We Can't Wait to See This Fall", according to Vanity Fair. The magazine previously published an interview with Garfield titled "Andrew Garfield Is Hungry for More" about playing Altman in Guadagnino's next movie, according to Vanity Fair.
