He will serve the time under house arrest at Skaugum, the royal residence where he has been held. The order requires an electronic ankle monitor. Dagbladet
He agreed to the extension. Prosecutors had cited continued concern about a risk of reoffending.
A restraining order also remains in place to protect one of Høiby's former girlfriends. Police in Oslo have asked that he stay in custody while his appeal moves forward.
Høiby was sentenced to four years in prison for offenses including rapes. He has appealed parts of that conviction. Aftenposten
His lawyers said they have held talks with police about conditions for a possible release. Høiby views those conditions as unreasonable and prefers to continue the current detention arrangement.
Defense attorney Alexander Greaker said Høiby is motivated to start working. He plans to use the detention period to secure a concrete job offer. The lawyer described him as relatively satisfied with the decision.
The extension continues an arrangement that began when Høiby moved from prison to house arrest in August. An earlier detention order had been due to end on Sept. 7 before it was extended.
