Jeff Koons to sell US$100 million personal collection at Christie's New York

Jeff Koons is selling about US$100 million worth of art from his personal collection.
The sale will go through Christie's, the auction house headquartered in London, at its New York rooms in November, The New York Times reported on 5 October 2026. That is a large sum for any single owner. It puts the group straight into the top tier of November sales.
The centrepiece is a single sale on 17 November titled "Heroes and Lovers." Christie's has listed the date under that name for New York. The title covers the whole consignment, meaning works handed over by one seller to be auctioned together.
Christie's own press hub lists a New York announcement dated 5 October 2026 as "Christie's Presents: Heroes and Lovers A Distinguished Private Collection," Christie's press hub. The house has not published a full catalogue so far. The announcement confirms the sale branding and timing.
What is in the group? The consignment is described as Old and Modern Masters works, ARTnews reported. Old Masters is the trade term for European painting made roughly before 1800. Modern Masters generally means later nineteenth- and twentieth-century art. That mix points to a buying collection, not leftovers from a studio.
Artnet also reported on 5 October that the Koons material, valued at around US$100 million, is headed to Christie's New York in November. ARTnews earlier described the same US$100 million Christie's consignment as reportedly from Koons. The later, dated reports name him directly as the seller.
What makes this one to watch is the scale and the single-owner format. November in New York is the city's main autumn auction round, when houses organise their most valuable evening sales. A named collection with its own title usually gets its own catalogue, display and evening slot.
No sale list or estimates for individual lots have been made public yet. Christie's is expected to release highlights in the weeks before the 17 November date.
