CBS Sports boss David Berson will run sport across the combined Skydance group once the $111 billion Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger closes on Tuesday 6 October.

The job puts CBS and TNT Sports under one executive inside the new organisation, which spans CBS and TNT Sports and their parents Paramount and WBD. Skydance outlined the plan in its Monday executive leadership announcement, as detailed by Deadline, and said a fuller roster of executives will follow after the deal closes.

TNT Sports chief Luis Silberwasser will leave as part of the change. Silberwasser has led sport at TNT since the formation of Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022 and told staff of his exit in a memo. CNBC first reported the shuffle on 5 October 2026.

Berson holds the titles of president and chief executive of CBS Sports. He joined CBS in 2010 after a stint at ESPN and succeeded Sean McManus as CBS Sports president in 2024.

His current portfolio includes the NFL, top-tier college football, the PGA Tour and The Masters. Those are broadcast rights deals, meaning agreements to show the games. At TNT, he will also oversee the NHL and Major League Baseball rights.

The TNT tenure ending now had sharp swings. Under Silberwasser, TNT Sports added Big 12 college football and French Open tennis. It then lost the NBA after nearly four decades, with games moving to NBC and Amazon while Disney-ESPN re-signed its own NBA deal.

For fans, this means one boss for two divisions that already work together. CBS Sports and TNT Sports have shared rights to the NCAA March Madness college basketball tournament since 2010. That joint operation now sits inside a single company.
