Shakespeare's Globe has named the full company for Julius Caesar, due in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse from 6 November 2026 to 14 February 2027.

The run will be the first time the play has ever been staged in that indoor theatre, according to details published on 6 October 2026. WhatsOnStage

Joe Hill-Gibbins will direct the production. Lucy Wray serves as associate director, supporting the director through rehearsals and the run.

Four actors lead the company. Kate Duchêne will play Julius Caesar, alongside the Soothsayer and Octavius Caesar. Caoilfhionn Dunne will play Brutus.

Adam Gillen will play Mark Antony. Natey Jones will play Cassius. The four roles sit at the centre of Shakespeare's story of conspiracy, assassination and its aftermath.

The wider creative team has also been confirmed. Rosanna Vize is designer, responsible for sets and costumes. Charles Balfour is candlelight designer, lighting the show with candles rather than conventional stage rigs.

Zands Duggam and Louise Anna Duggan are co-composers. Joana Nastari is movement and intimacy director, guiding physical staging including intimate scenes. Casting was led by Becky Paris, head of casting at Shakespeare's Globe.

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is the Globe's indoor space on Bankside in London. It is described by the Globe as London's only candlelit theatre. Shakespeare's Globe

That setting matters. The Playhouse holds a few hundred people close to the stage. Candlelight keeps the room and the audience visible to each other throughout.

The production will open the Globe's 2026-27 Winter Season. Winter at the Globe means the focus moves indoors to the Playhouse while the open-air Globe Theatre is dark.

Audiences will also get a chance to hear from the team directly. The Globe will host The Globe Talks: Julius Caesar, a panel discussion and Q&A with members of the creative team exploring key themes. Shakespeare's Globe

What makes this stand out is the pairing of scale and closeness. A Roman power struggle played under candlelight puts speeches about loyalty and betrayal a few metres from the crowd. For fans, this means checking dates early for a three-month winter run.
