ARTnews, the US art magazine, has published its Top 200 Collectors list for 2026.

The 2026 round is the 37th edition of the annual list, according to the magazine's editor's letter for the issue ARTnews editor's letter. ARTnews set out the new edition in an introduction published on 6 October 2026 ARTnews introduction.

The list is a yearly survey of active private collectors. It is not an auction ranking. It tracks who is buying, holding and lending art.

Past profiles stay online in a searchable archive. The archive includes year filters for 2026, 2025 and 2024, with earlier listings for 2023 and 2022 also present.

Readers can also sort by collecting area — the category a collector focuses on. Options include Contemporary art, Modern art, Postwar art, Asian art, and Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.

Names already in the profiles archive include philanthropist Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen and investor Marc Andreessen, and Japanese collector Kankuro Ueshima Collector profiles.

For context, last year's edition reached newsstands in October 2025. The magazine said at the time that the issue included a Collectors Spotlight feature alongside the main list.

The 36th edition of the list included a look at the rising Gulf art scene, according to a magazine post from July 2026.

What makes this useful for a casual reader is simple. You do not need to know the market to use it. Pick a year, pick an area you like, and you get 200 starting points for who owns what and where it might appear next.
