Manchester City came from behind twice to beat Arsenal 4-2 and keep their perfect start in the Women's Super League.

The win came at the Academy Stadium on October 4, 2026. City had to respond after falling behind on two separate occasions before pulling clear. It kept their 100% record intact for the season, according to match reporting ESPN.

City were ruthless when it mattered. Arsenal led, then led again, and still left with nothing. That is the sort of afternoon that lifts a dressing room and empties the other one.

Chelsea were just as convincing elsewhere. They beat West Ham 3-0 to move to the top of the table Sky Sports. It was a controlled, professional display in the weekend reviewed on the Guardian's Women's Football Weekly on October 6.

The Women's Super League, the top tier of women's football in England, is still taking early shape. Chelsea set the pace. City are right with them, with their game in hand feeling like a real advantage.

London City Lionesses stole some of the weekend's noise. They thrashed Tottenham 6-1 Sky Sports. Six goals in one afternoon does not happen often. For a newer name in the division, it was a loud introduction.

Arsenal are the other end of the story. The defeat left them 10th in the table, a position discussed at length on Women's Football Weekly, hosted by Faye Carruthers with Suzanne Wrack, Tom Garry and Tim Stillman Guardian Women's Football Weekly. Manager Renee Slegers is now under growing pressure.

What makes this stand out is how quickly the mood has shifted. Arsenal started the season expecting to challenge. Now they are looking up at almost everyone.

Elsewhere, Brighton produced a five-star performance at the AMEX stadium. Aston Villa, under an interim manager, drew their match. Charlton suffered another defeat, while Manchester United against Liverpool was settled by an early goal.

For fans, this means an early split is forming. City and Chelsea are setting a fierce pace. Arsenal need a response fast, with fixtures, kick-off times and broadcast details listed on the FA's league hub.

The table tells its own early tale. Points, wins and goal difference are all live on the official Barclays WSL table. After this weekend, the message is simple. City keep winning. Chelsea keep scoring. Everyone else is chasing.
