Lucy Hale to Star as Modern Holmes Heir in Roku's Scarlett Holmes

Lucy Hale will play Scarlett Holmes, a present-day descendant of Sherlock Holmes who turns sharp powers of observation on modern romance. Roku has greenlit the project as a Roku Original limited series, meaning it is designed to tell its story in one closed run. It is set to debut exclusively on The Roku Channel in 2027, as reported by Deadline.
A green light, in television language, means the show has been formally ordered to go ahead to production. A Roku Original means it is made to premiere first on Roku's own service. In this case, there will be no other place to watch it at launch. The 2027 window gives the team time to cast the wider ensemble, organise crews and complete filming and post-production.
The series centres on Scarlett as she uses Holmes-style deduction to solve mysteries of love, dating and relationships. The idea takes the classic detective toolkit and points it somewhere new. Close watching. Careful logic. Attention to small shifts in behaviour. Here, those skills are applied not to a crime scene but to dating life and matters of the heart.
Scripts are by Paris Herbert-Taylor and Katie Wilbert, who created the show's take on the Holmes legacy. Hale will lead the cast in the title role. She will also serve as an executive producer, meaning she holds a senior role behind the camera as well as in front of it, helping to guide casting, scripts and the shape of the series.
She shares that producing credit with Sophie Tilson and Steve Jaggi. The series is produced by Jaggi Entertainment, the production company behind the project. On Roku's side, executives Morgan Pichinson and Sabrina Lyall will oversee the series, acting as the in-house managers who shepherd it from order through delivery.
Jaggi Entertainment will also handle international sales, meaning it will sell rights to screen the show in countries and on services outside Roku's own footprint. That is a common split in streaming. One home service premieres the show in its own market, while a sales partner organises deals elsewhere.
For viewers who love detective stories, the twist is clear. No new clues about episode count or exact launch date have been announced. What is settled is the core package: star, premise, writers, producers and its exclusive home on The Roku Channel next year.
