Netflix is bringing ghost hunting to your phone. The Conjuring: Unspoken, a new game set in The Conjuring universe, releases on 13 October through Netflix, according to details published by GameSpot.

The game was developed by Supermassive Games in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Supermassive is the UK studio known for choice-driven horror, and this is its take on the film franchise about paranormal investigators. Netflix outlined the project in a Tudum article.

Players take the role of demonologist Francesca Noakes. The story sends her into the fictional Red Lion Inn to search for clues and work out what is haunting it. It is structured as an interactive investigation, so dialogue options decide how the story progresses.

The toolkit will feel familiar to horror fans. It includes an electromagnetic field reader, which picks up fluctuations linked to spirits, an infrared camera for seeing in the dark, and a spirit box, a device that scans radio frequencies for voices. Players use a phone to move through the inn, examine rooms and use the gear.

There is no console version to buy. The Conjuring: Unspoken is a cloud-based game, meaning it runs on remote servers and streams to the player, and it does not require dedicated hardware or a controller to play, Bloody Disgusting reported. That makes it playable with touch controls on a device most people already own.

What makes this stand out is the format. It is closer to a playable ghost hunt than a traditional action game. Short sessions, simple controls and a story shaped by conversation suit mobile play, and the horror comes from investigation rather than combat.
