Manchester City have not named the same starting team once this season. They have still won every league game.

The champions are five games into the defence of their Women's Super League title, England's top division for women's football, and they sit top of the table. They are also unbeaten in Europe, according to the BBC.

City won their first league title in a decade last season. Manager Andree Jeglertz kept most of that squad together in the summer and added three new signings.

The clearest example came against Arsenal. City fell behind twice and still won 4-2 to stay top of the WSL, with Lauren Hemp scoring twice for the hosts, Reuters reported. Kerstin Casparij came off the bench in that game and scored with her first touch.

It is becoming a habit. City have taken six points from losing positions in the league, more than any other team. They have scored 16 goals in the WSL, with 10 coming in the second half and three in stoppage time, the minutes added on for delays.

Europe has followed the same script. City came from 2-0 down at Bayern Munich to draw their opening Champions League game. They then came from behind again to draw 1-1 with Real Madrid, with official highlights published by UEFA.

Rotation is a big part of the story. Jeglertz is yet to pick an unchanged side. Beth Mead came on to set up a goal against Birmingham City. Casparij did the same against Arsenal. The bench is finishing games, not just seeing them out.

What makes this stand out is the calm inside the chaos. City do not panic at 1-0 down. They change shape, change players, and keep playing through the middle until the space opens late on.

There is a long way to go. Four league-phase matches are still to play in Europe, and the WSL season runs through winter into spring. For now, the champions are winning early, late, and from behind.
