The makers of Hogwarts Legacy and Mortal Kombat now sit in the same games business as SpongeBob, Star Trek and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The change follows the US$110 billion Paramount–Warner Bros. merger. The combined company will be known as Skydance, as reported on 7 October 2026 by Video Games Chronicle.

Under the plan, a newly formed Paramount Games Studio will join with Warner Bros. Games’ internal developers. That means the studios owned outright by the group. The list covers Avalanche Software, NetherRealm Studios, Rocksteady Studios, TT Games, and WB Games teams in Montreal and Boston.

One operation. Many franchises.

Tony Driscoll will lead the merged games operation. He previously worked at Epic Games and Warner Bros.

Each side brings known names. Avalanche Software developed Hogwarts Legacy. NetherRealm Studios developed Mortal Kombat. Paramount’s games offering includes TMNT: The Last Ronin and Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, alongside SpongeBob and Star Trek properties. Skydance’s games roster includes the upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.

The games move came just after the wider deal closed. Paramount completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on 6 October 2026, according to Warner Bros. Discovery. Chief executive David Ellison was put in control of the combined company, and the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division had closed its investigation into the merger.

For players, this means those console, PC and mobile franchises now answer to the same games leadership. Avalanche keeps its link to the wizarding world. NetherRealm keeps its link to fighting games. Rocksteady, TT Games and the Montreal and Boston teams keep their own series and support work. Paramount adds its cartoon, sci-fi and turtle heroes to the mix.

No new games, dates or studio closures were announced as part of the combination. The story so far is structure: who owns which studios, who runs them, and which characters sit under one roof.
