Away days in Scotland cost up to £34, survey of all 42 clubs finds

An adult away ticket in Scotland costs up to £34 this season.
That is the price for a Kilmarnock supporter travelling to Ibrox, according to BBC Sport, which asked all 42 SPFL clubs what they charge visiting fans. The SPFL is the body that runs Scotland's four professional divisions. Its survey gives a full snapshot of what it costs to follow your team on the road.
In the Premiership, the top division, Hibernian fans going to Tannadice pay £30. Dundee supporters at Falkirk pay £28. St Mirren supporters at Tynecastle pay the same £28. Those are adult prices for a single league match.
Prices drop down the leagues. Morton fans travelling to Arbroath in the Championship, the second tier, can pay £24. Hamilton supporters going to Alloa in League 1 pay £21. Kelty Hearts supporters at Stirling Albion in League 2 pay £18. The pattern is simple. The further down the pyramid you go, the lower the highest listed away price becomes.
There is no league-wide cap in Scotland. Under SPFL rules, the home club decides admission charges for league matches in its absolute discretion. In plain terms, each host sets the price for the away section. That is why the cost can change every week on the road.
That is different from England. The Premier League has extended its £30 cap on away tickets for a further two seasons, as reported in March 2026 by BBC Sport. The cap was first brought in to protect travelling supporters and was later unanimously extended to the end of the 2021/22 season. Its early impact was sharp, with the average cost of the most expensive away ticket falling 37%, from £46.44 to £29.44. UEFA, European football's governing body, also introduced a 70-euro cap for Champions League away tickets in 2019.
Scotland's top flight is described as the best attended in Europe per head of population. Per head means measured against the size of the country, not total crowd numbers. The SPFL regularly highlights that status with pride.
What makes this stand out is the loyalty behind the numbers. Away fans travel in small numbers, sing all game and often drive the atmosphere. For fans, this means a long trip can also be the priciest ticket, and budgeting for the season is about miles as well as money.
