Kane equals England record with Wembley double

Harry Kane marked his record-equalling 125th England appearance with two goals in a 3-0 win over Czechia at Wembley on 6 October 2026.
The night ended with England’s captain level with Peter Shilton on 125 caps, the most by any England men’s player. A cap means an international appearance. Shilton’s mark had stood alone for decades.
Kane did more than turn up. He scored twice and set up another goal in the victory, meaning he was directly involved in all three England goals Sky Sports. England’s 3-0 result was confirmed on a milestone night at Wembley Reuters. The venue and date for the landmark game were Wembley on 6 October The Guardian.
Two goals. One assist. One record.
The numbers behind him are striking. Kane now has 91 goals in 125 appearances for England, and he is the country’s record goalscorer. For context, Wayne Rooney scored 53 in 120 and Sir Bobby Charlton scored 49 in 106. Kane passed Rooney’s old record of 53 with his 54th international goal back in March 2023.
His teammates were quick to salute him. Jude Bellingham described Kane as “the greatest player that has ever played for England” Reuters. Morgan Rogers also praised the striker, with reaction captured by the BBC BBC.
Kane himself said he could reach 100 goals for England BBC. Nine more would take him there. At his scoring rate, it feels possible rather than fanciful.
What makes this stand out is the blend of longevity and end product. Many players win a lot of caps. Few carry their team’s attack for almost a decade while doing it. Kane has done both, from his first call-ups to leading the line as captain, still finding space in crowded penalty boxes when England need him most.
