Wicker to play one-night-only 4DX screening on Oct. 28

Wicker will play in 4DX for a one-night-only event on Oct. 28, five days after it opens in theatres on Oct. 23. The plan for the Black Bear film was reported by The Hollywood Reporter. It gives audiences two ways to see the same story in the same week.
4DX is the cinema format with moving seats and in-theatre effects such as wind, mist, scent and light. The seats tilt and shake with the action. Bursts of air and water reach the audience at timed moments. It is a physical way to watch, quite different from a standard screening.
The special show centres on a new release from filmmakers Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film is based on Ursula Wills' short story The Wicker Husband, which provides the starting point and the title idea. Black Bear is the production company behind the screen version. An adaptation, in plain terms, means the story moves from page to screen with changes for length and picture.
The cast is small and clearly drawn. Olivia Colman plays a fisherwoman, the worker whose life drives the tale. Peter Dinklage plays the local basketmaker, the craft worker who makes things by hand. Alexander Skarsgård plays the woven husband, the made figure at the centre of the household. Three roles. One household.
The calendar is simple. The general theatre release comes first on Oct. 23. The 4DX night follows on Oct. 28. That order lets viewers see the film in a regular auditorium before trying the effects-heavy version. No other 4DX dates have been announced.
A one-night-only label matters for booking. It means the 4DX version is sold as an event, not as an open-ended run. Seats are limited to that evening. Anyone keen on the format will need to plan around Oct. 28.
For fans, this means a straight choice with no guesswork. Book a standard seat from Oct. 23 for the story as staged. Book Oct. 28 for movement, air and sensation around it. What makes this stand out is the fit between subject and format, a woven man presented in a room that touches you back.
