Barbie 2 is first on the to-do list for Warner Bros.' new film bosses.

Skydance Pictures Co-Chairs Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein will oversee the studio's theatrical slates, the line-up of films planned for cinemas, for 2027 to 2029, with securing a sequel reuniting director Greta Gerwig with stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling named as the opening priority, according to Deadline.

Goldberg and Greenstein hold the titles of Skydance Motion Picture Group Co-Chairs. They arrived at Paramount in late summer 2025 and sent a Day 1 memo to staff at Paramount and Warner Bros., as reported by Deadline.

Their brief covers the lot. They are in charge of all Warner Bros. theatrical brands, not only the Melrose lot in Hollywood, according to Deadline.

They follow the previous Warner Bros. film leadership of Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, who arrived in June 2022. At a Day One Skydance press event, Skydance co-chief executive David Ellison said Sinners was his favourite film from last year.

Ellison also gave his account of the first year after taking over Paramount. He said the company had overdelivered on cost savings and efficiencies with $2.7 billion in synergies, while doubling the film slate to 15 films a year and ordering four new series.

Beyond Barbie, several other projects are moving through the system. Director Baz Luhrmann's Jehanne d'Arc was greenlit, given the formal go-ahead to proceed, by the previous regime. Luhrmann is now waiting on a new draft of the script in hopes of a spring start.

Comedy is in flux. The Jonah Hill-directed comedy The Cut Off was once dated against The Odyssey. It has since been undated and sits without a release date.

Horror has a date. Gladys, a prequel from New Line to Weapons, is dated for 8 September 2028. It is awaiting a final draft before a director is attached. That is a full diary.

Warner Bros. has 36 dated theatrical releases on its calendar, according to Deadline. The studio also launched a specialist label named Clockwork for smaller-scale releases. That label will move across to the new Paramount-Warner Bros. entity under Skydance, according to Deadline.

For fans, this means the next three cinema years will be shaped by two executives settling in fast. Barbie 2 is the headline they want. The rest of the slate will fill in as scripts land and directors sign.
