Alfonso Cuarón and his son Jonas Cuarón revisited Gravity in Busan, speaking on Thursday 8 October 2026 a day after watching the space drama back on an Imax screen, according to Variety.

The talk was the festival's "Master Class: The Cinematic Visions of Alfonso CUARÓN" at Busan Cinema Center Cinema 1. The Busan International Film Festival had listed that title, date and venue in its programme.

It was Alfonso Cuarón's first visit to Korea. The trip had been announced in advance as his debut appearance in the country, according to the Korea JoongAng Daily.

Gravity is the 2013 space survival drama co-written by father and son. The film brought Alfonso Cuarón the best director Oscar.

The pair used the Busan session to open up the toolbox behind it. Gravity relied on a custom-built box of LED lights to copy the shifting light of space, robot-controlled cameras for precise movement, and extensive CGI to place its actors outside a spacecraft.

Jonas Cuarón was in Busan with more than memories. He brought Campeón Gabacho for its Asian premiere in the festival's World Cinema section. Father and son also discussed the future of the theatre experience during the appearance, according to Deadline.

The Busan stop fits a long working pattern. Jonas Cuarón is a frequent collaborator of his father. He directed Year of the Nail in 2007 and later directed the immigration drama Desierto, which Alfonso Cuarón produced.

What makes this stand out is the pairing. Two film-makers, one family, talking through a hard shoot more than a decade later. For fans, this means a rare look at how the decisions held up.
