Apple TV buys Anna Torv crime drama Dustfall outside Australia

Apple TV has bought the Australian crime drama Dustfall, starring Anna Torv, for everywhere outside Australia.
The deal covers worldwide rights excluding Australia, meaning Apple TV becomes the home for the show in most other markets while Australia keeps it local. It was reported by Deadline on 8 October 2026. Federation Studios sold the series to the streamer.
Dustfall is a six-part crime drama based on Vikki Petraitis's novel The Unbelieved. Emma Freeman directs. Deadline has described it as a propulsive, atmospheric tropic noir.
Torv plays seasoned detective Antigone "Tig" Pollard. Juliet Stevenson co-stars, with the two playing mother and daughter, according to ABC iview. The cast also includes Peter Fenton and Bert LaBonté, with Zoe Phillips also listed in the ensemble.
In Australia the series airs on the ABC. It will stream on ABC iview from 11 October, according to the broadcaster. It is also set for the BBC in the UK and ZDF in Germany, where it will be available for a year.
The series is a Soapbox Pictures and Moonriver production, according to FilmInk. It received major production investment from Screen Australia and the ABC, the same report says. That backing from a national broadcaster and a public funding organisation is a familiar route for Australian drama now recognised abroad.
For fans, this means a simple map. Watch on the ABC and iview in Australia. Watch on Apple TV in most other countries. Viewers in Britain and Germany get an extra local window through the BBC and ZDF.
