Pacific Music Group has opened an office in Tokyo and signed Japanese rapper JP THE WAVY as its first headline act there.

The Hong Kong-headquartered company announced both moves on 8 October, according to Music Business Worldwide. The new hub is called PMG Japan. New music from JP THE WAVY through the partnership is due this autumn.

The deal is a long-term 360 deal, in which the company shares in recorded music and management activity rather than records alone. PMG said JP THE WAVY is PMG Japan's first major signing.

JP THE WAVY broke through in 2017 with his single Cho Wavy De Gomenne. In 2021, he teamed up with Good Gas on Bushido from the official soundtrack to F9: The Fast Saga.

Pacific Music Group was launched in November 2025 by NE-YO, Sonu Nigam, MC Jin and Jonathan Serbin. Serbin is chief executive. He previously served as Co-President of Warner Music Asia, a role he was appointed to in 2021.

PMG said the Tokyo operation will cover artist development, recorded music, management, promotion, brand partnerships and cross-border collaboration. The office will be co-led by Tomomi Takeshima and MiMi Shimada.

The organisation has been building its roster since launch. Former Girls' Generation member Tiffany Young signed a 360 deal with the company and will release new music through it, Billboard reported in April.

For fans, this means a short wait. PMG said JP THE WAVY will begin releasing new music through the partnership this fall.
