Prince George, 13, is about to get his longest break yet since starting boarding school.

Eton College's first "long leave" — the school's name for half-term — runs from Friday 23 October to Sunday 8 November, according to the school's official term dates Eton College. That is more than two full weeks at home. George is expected to spend it with his parents, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, and his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis Hello! Magazine.

George enrolled at Eton in September. His parents walked with him for his first day. It was a rainy morning in Berkshire BBC.

Eton breaks up its long autumn term with short bursts of leave. The first was a "B Weekend", an optional weekend home, on 19 and 20 September. Boys can leave after Saturday commitments and must return by 6.15pm on Sunday.

The second was "short leave" from 2 to 4 October. George used that three-day window for his first weekend back since starting at the school, spending time with his parents People.

Long leave is different. It is the main half-term holiday. Two family-friendly dates fall inside it this year: Halloween on 31 October and Bonfire Night on 5 November.

It is also a gear change for George. He boarded part-time at Lambrook School. Eton is his first experience as a full-time boarder. Each boy gets his own study-bedroom, with no shared rooms.

The family will not have to travel far for fireworks. A Bonfire Night display at Royal Windsor Racecourse, less than 15 minutes from the Wales family home, takes place on 7 November, inside the leave window.

For fans, this means a quiet stretch. No school runs to Windsor. Just Halloween, fireworks and 16 days of family time before the winter run-up to Christmas.
